Orange County Seeks Laguna Beach Public Comment For ARPA Funds

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Beach residents, your county supervisors want to hear your comment. On Feb. 1, the County of Orange opened the public comment period for the American Rescue Plan Act funding, and Laguna Beach residents are encouraged to share their opinions during the 2022-2024 budget development process through March 11. Residents can file their public comment online by visiting the County of Orange's website. The Americans Rescue Plan Act, signed into law by President Joe Biden in 2021, is designed to give $1.9 trillion in financial assistance to states, localities and metropolitan areas that have been impacted by COVID-19. Of this $1.9 trillion, the County of Orange received roughly $616.8 million. Legislation on the act requires the funds to be disbursed in two separate installments. The first installment of $308.4 million was received on May 21 2021, and the second installment is expected to be received no sooner than 12 months from the first payment, according to the county's website.
