Central Bucks May Be Underreporting COVID-19 Cases: Report

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Central Bucks School District's COVID-19 dashboard reported only 198 of a cumulative 775 positive test results across several schools between Jan. 4 and Jan. 19, according to documents provided to the Bucks County Courier Times by an anonymous employee. In his article, Chris Ullery said that since at least early January Central Bucks staff were told to list only positive test results from the Bucks County Intermediate Unit or a doctor to the Bucks County Health Department — even though photographs of at-home COVID-19 tests were accepted to qualify students for virtual learning. "It's just so wrong how they're handling this and at the end of the day it's putting our students at risk, it's putting their families at risk and it's putting our community at risk," the employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the Courier Times. This news comes shortly after the nearby Council Rock School District's board voted to stop sharing COVID-19 data with the public entirely. Ullery said Central Bucks officials did not respond to a request for comment by the paper's press time.
