ALAMEDA, CA – A vacant Alameda lot is being eyed as a possible site for a new bar opening, and all indications are that momentum is on the side of a deal getting done, The Mercury News reports.
The owners of Oakland's Mad Oak Bar "n" Yard on 12th Street expect to close within a few weeks on a landing spot across from College of Alameda where they hope to build a sister bar they will call Mad Oak West, the report said.
Daniel Cukierman and his brother already have the blessings of the city's Planning Board, which voted unanimously in support of plans to build a 2-story bar with an outdoor patio on an 8,081-square-foot parcel at the corner of Webster Street and Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway, the report said.
"I love to see an empty lot become a busy place," board member Rona Rothenberg said according to the report.
