The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe is currently looking to fill three part-time summer gardener positions as part of our ongoing grounds beautification efforts. The positions will run from May to August, with one position extending through October.
The positions are approx. 30 hours per week and some weekends are required.
Responsibilities include:
• Planting flowers and shrubbery
• Mulching and edging, and trimming trees and shrubs
• Daily watering, weeding, and grounds clean up
• Monitoring and ensuring plant health
• Weekly fertilizing and pest control management
• Occasional maintenance projects such as painting, cleaning, and window washing
• Interacting with Shrine pilgrims/visitors: promoting Shrine-sponsored events by making pilgrims/visitors aware of opportunities and responding to pilgrims’/visitors’ questions regarding the Shrine, the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and the Catholic faith
• Participating in religious and liturgical functions of the Shrine, including Holy Mass, the rosary, novenas, and other devotional practices
Qualifications:
• Must be familiar with regional plant life
• Prior gardening or landscaping experience preferred
• Knowledge of the doctrines of the Catholic faith and ability to interact with pilgrims with respect to the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe is essential
• Must possess a valid driver’s license in order to execute various duties of the position, as requested
