DEARBORN, MI — A local police department is stepping up to ensure children celebrating birthdays while Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer's stay-at-home order is in effect don't go without some fun. The Dearborn Police Department has begun a new program in which children in the Dearborn area who have birthdays while the stay-home order is in effect can get a police vehicle drive-by of their house. "The Dearborn Police Department has always been committed to providing superior community service," said Timothy McHale, a captain with the Dearborn Police Department. "Hopefully we can provide some joy to those kids who aren't able to celebrate their birthdays with extended family and friends during this difficult time. We plan on continuing the birthday drive-by program through the duration of the governor's stay-home, stay-safe executive order for kids 12 and under."
