Our farm is located in Gresham, Oregon - 35 mins from downtown Portland. We are looking for a skilled, experienced Farm Manager to oversee all operations on our small hobby farm, with the focus on general management, heavy machine operations, general labor, garden and orchard management, and supervise a crew of 2-4 staff. We have 80 acres near Oxbow park with 6 horses, a dozen chickens, non-profit vegetable gardens, orchards, hay fields, and landscaped flower gardens. There is a full-time barn manager on site. Heavy machine training and experience is required: including tractor, skid steer, large rig, dump truck, and excavator. Farming/garden experience required, livestock experience helpful but not required. Farm and people management experience is essential. Position is hourly, full-time with excellent benefits, PTO, Sick time, Paid Holidays, Insurance (health, dental, eye, AFLAC), 401K. Weekends and Holidays required, as needed. Duties and Responsibilities Include:  Day to day general farm duties and maintenance  Management of up to 4 other employees.  Heavy machine operation - tractor, excavation equptment, truck/trailer, dump truck. Moving earth, tree clearing, cutting hay, etc.  Garden management - planting, harvesting, weeding, pruning, land prep, fertilizing, sampling soil, IPM, scheduling garden events, running the crew. Pasture management - moving, seeding, irrigation, dragging fields, fertilizing, cutting/baling, putting up hay. Manure management  Irrigation knowledge required.  Seasonal maintenance. Troubleshoot and repair. Installation of lawn, arena, and garden irrigation.  Clean driving record required! Must be able to drive dump truck, truck/trailer, and tractor.  Order/purchase supplies.  Basic plumbing, carpentry, mechanic work  Seasonal farm maintenance  Operate basic farm machinery including tractors, mower, SUV. Will be responsible for mowing pastures and maintaining indoor and outdoor arenas.  Assist with equine, poultry, and dog care, as needed.  Shop tidying and maintenance.  Fencing and fence maintenance  Daily gardening, yard work, and weeding Equipment maintenance (oil, tires, fluids) and keeping up to date records  Assist owner with household duties and run personal errands when needed  Oversee staff of 3-4.  Keep thorough records on garden/orchard events, repair and maintenance logs  Pasture maintenance for hay and grazing fields (cut, drag, fertilize)  Assist with construction projects on site  Ensure staff follow policies and regulations  Uphold company policies  Schedule and oversee work performed by vendors and contractors  Ability to create and follow budgets, submit invoices/receipts  Aid with future expansion and planning (including non-profit gardens)  Follow OSHA, ODA, and other regulatory requirements. You:  5+ years experience in ALL the following: Farm management, farming, gardening/agriculture, produce/orchards, crew management, irrigation  Demonstrates ability to carry out directions while working alone and with others. Self starter.  Leads by example, first to grab a shovel or pitchfork!  Must have basic experience in Word, Excel, Outlook.  You will answer directly to the Farm EVP  Must have current ODL and clean driving record General all around farm hand/handy-person  Experience and proficiency with large farming and heavy machinary MUST be a good team player.  Ability to problem solve and know how to find the answer  Ability to work over time, weekends, and travel up to 20% of the time  An expert at time management and prioritizing  A positive attitude toward your work and others  Motivation is a MUST!  Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 75 pounds  Must provide references Us:  80+ acre working farm with a non-profit produce gardens, orchards, and hay production.
