DEARBORN, MI —The city has announced it will be purchasing a new fire engine, which will replace Fire Engine 12 at Fire Station No. 2 on Outer Drive. Dearborn Fire Chief Joseph Murray said that the replacement of the truck serves to completely standardize the pumpers and ladder trucks among the fire fleet. "This provides our firefighters the ability to move from station to station and have a thorough knowledge of the apparatus they are assigned to," he said. "A standardized fleet also aids us in repair and maintenance efficiency." The fire engine will be purchased from Sutphen Corporation, a manufacturer the city has utilized previously, it said. "We have had a long relationship with this manufacturer and are looking forward to receiving this new truck," Murray said. The fire department said it expects to receive the new fire engine by July 2021.
