DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn police have arrested a man believed to be involved in an armed robbery and police pursuit that prompted the temporary lockdown of a Ford plant in the city Thursday. Michigan State Police reported that the suspect was taken into custody Thursday afternoon following a prolonged search in the area of the Ford Engine Plant in Dearborn. The arrest was made with the assistance of officers from the Dearborn Police Department and an MSP K-9 officer, Chad. Dearborn Police did not return messages from Patch seeking additional information. The Detroit Free Press reported that the man was accused of robbing a liquor store at 31450 Cherry Hill Thursday morning. The suspect drove away from the liquor store in a white and tan Ford F-150 pickup, heading west, according to the Freep. Officers, who were headed to the store, saw the pickup, but when they tried to perform a traffic stop the vehicle kept going, according to the Free Press. The Ford Engine Plant in Dearborn temporarily locked down as Dearborn Police searched in the area for the suspect. Dearborn police and MSP formed a perimeter in the area of Schaefer and Butler and asked residents to avoid the area during the search.
