TOWN OF SMITHTOWN, NY — The number of people with the new coronavirus, which causes the disease COVID-19, hit 2,368 in the Town of Smithtown as of Tuesday afternoon. There are now 41,327 confirmed cases in Suffolk County. New York State on PAUSE is scheduled to expire Friday, but Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone said it's "very unlikely" Suffolk will be among the areas re-opening by then. There are a total of seven metrics that must be met before a region can reopen, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. However, Suffolk County has only met four of the seven metrics, Bellone said Monday.
