Tenorio College of Nursing Dean's Endowed Lectureship Social Justice Advocacy-Necessary TroubleSeattle University College of Nursing Welcomes Coretta Jenerette, PhD, RN, AOCN, CNE, ANEF, FAANProfessor and Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusivity at University of South Carolina College of Nursing Keynote Dr. Luth M. Tenorio College of Nursing Dean's Endowed Lectureship Using examples from her research and the literature, Dr. Jenerette will define and explore social justice advocacy as a necessity for health equity. The audience will be able to consider where they are on the social justice advocacy continuum. Coretta Jenerette is a Professor and the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity in the College of Nursing at the University of South Carolina. She earned a PhD and MSN in nursing from the University of South Carolina and her BSN from Clemson University. She completed post-doctoral fellowships at Yale University and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has an internationally recognized research program focused on enhancing self and family management of sickle cell disease. She was drawn to this research due to the disparities and inequities in the care fueled by social determinants of health, particularly pain management, she witnessed as a staff nurse. She is a servant leader and social justice advocate. Event registration begins at 4:00 p.m. A reception and poster presentation featuring scholarly work by SU nursing faculty and students will be held in the Paccar Atrium from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. followed by the keynote in Piggot Auditorium.
