Pirates and Parrots invade Galveston FEBRUARY 25, 2022 THE BIRDS AND THE BEADS Pirates & Parrots Parade Ride on Party Parrot's Pirate Ship Mardi Gras Galveston Krewe of Babalu Parade· Hosted by Scarlett & Party Parrots JOIN THE PIRATES & PARROTS AND HELP FUND THE  TEXAS RAINFOREST PROJECT AT SHILOH RANCH AND THE NEW PARROT SANCTUARY BUILDING.. 100% OF ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT www.caphouston.org  Happy Mardi Gras Parading Pirates! This parade will begin staging at 6pm next to the Galveston Railroad Museum on Santa Fe between 25th and 28th. There is a 2 hr window to complete check-in, select your rider spot, organize your beads for faster throwing and photo opts for the Krewe. If you plan to ride over from the airport and enjoy the FREE parking, you must arrive by 5pm. This event leaves promptly at 8pm for 2 loops around the Galveston Strand District.  This parade  requires a  large quantity of beads. A wholesale package of 14doz float rider beads in sizes 12mm/ 48", 10mm/ 60" and 18mm/ 48" in addition to 125 assorted coins, in a zippered bag and can be purchased directly from the wholesale bead vendor in LA.(www.mardigrasoutlet.com)  This quantity of beads is MINIMAL for participation, You may, of course, purchase more for future parade events on the pirate ship. Neither price point includes admission to the festivities on THE STRAND or BEADS.  THIS EVENT HOSTS LIVE PARROTS & appropriate Pirate or Mardi Gras attire is expected since photos will appear in local magazines, new channels and publications.  Musical talent TBA.  MARDI GRAS APPEARANCE SCHEDULE: Sat 29 Texas City Mardi Gras of the Mainland  Parade 12pm Feb 12 Kemah Mardi Gras Parade  10 am Feb 12 Pirate Fest Jackie's Brickhouse   noon 12pm Feb 19 Galveston Mardi Gras Krewe of Aquarius Parade noon 12pm Feb 25 Galveston Mardi Gras Krewe of Babalu  Parade 8pm March 1 Galveston Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday  Parade 6:30pm Small coolers will be allowed on the float as we have minimal storage space available. There will be NO opportunities to disembark for privy use so please pace yourselves accordingly. THIS IS A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT AND NO REFUNDS AS YOU ARE SUPPORTING A CHARITABLE CAUSE. Laissez les bon temps rouler! As always walkers are free and are encouraged for direct crowd participation. And, as always we have a tow vehicle if anyone cannot complete the route please signal for help. The meet-up will be at the Galveston International Airport at 4:30 p.m. to load personal belongings and departure from the airport will be no later than 5:30 in order to arrive by 6 p.m. for check in at the lineup.
