SMITHTOWN, NY - The Town of Smithtown is slated to hold its September 11th Memorial Ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday. The event will be held at the Smithtown 9/11 Memorial, located on the north side of Main Street in Smithtown between Bank Street and Landing Avenue. Smithtown Supervisor Ed Wehrheim will host local, county, and state officials in honor of the memory of those lost in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The event will include prayers from local clergy members, the reading of the names, and wreath laying at the memorial. Due to the coronavirus, the event will be live streamed via Facebook Live for anyone wishing to safely participate virtually. Those wishing to pay personal respects can do so by emailing messages or prayers to [email protected]. All personal messages/comments will be included as part of the edited production of the ceremony. All attendees must observe social distancing guidelines, Town officials said.
