Description

Our version of the Boy Scouts of America's Pinewood Derby race. Time to dust off your tools and bust out those Jr. High woodshop skills, and build yourself that winning car you could never seem to make back in the day.  It's time for our 2022 Pintwood Derby  This years event wil take place on Saturday, April 9th at Alosta Brewing Co.  We started this event several years back as a fun, unique way to bring families and friends together.  A chance for moms and dads to work on a race car with their kids, as well as an opportunity for adults to perhaps relive a part of their youth.  Each year we get to see our customers, both with and without children, interacting together in good, clean, family fun.   This truly is an event for everybody.  We will have food trucks, raffle prizes, and more.  The track will be in prime condition, and the weather should be great!  There will be awards for the following categories:14&U - 1st, 2nd, 3rd15+ - 1st, 2nd, 3rdGrand Champion (winner of 14U vs. winner of 15+)Best Car Design 14UBest Car Design 15+Ugliest CarBest Alosta Brewing themed car                                                                          ENTRY FEE:  If you want to partcipate, there is a $20 fee to enter a car into the derby, and that fee includes a car-kit (available for pick-up in the tasting room beginning 2/11).   Cars will be required to comply with Boy Scouts of America Pinewood Derby specificiations, which state:  All cars must pass the following inspection to qualify for the race: Width shall not exceed 2-3/4 inches.Length shall not exceed 7 inches.Weight shall not exceed 5 ounces.Axles, wheels, and body shall be from the materials provided in the kit. Additional wheels can be purchased separately.*Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are prohibited.No lubricating oil may be used. Axles may be lubricated with powdered graphite or silicone.The car shall not ride on any kind of spring.The car must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices.No loose materials of any kind are allowed in the car.For the sake of argument, ONLY the wheel type shown below will be allowed (any colors are fine) Below is a highlight video from our 2017 Event!
