Riverbanks Zoo & Garden is hosting a free recycling event for residents of Richland and Lexington counties. The event will be accessible from the zoo's Greystone entrance, 500 Wildlife Parkway, Columbia. Materials accepted at the Wild About Recycling Drop-off will include: Electronics (limit eight items per household)Paper for shredding (limit five boxes/bags per household)Scrap metals (e.g., appliances, bicycles, metal chairs, lawn mowers free of gas and oil)Tires (limit eight per household)Used cooking oils (must be in sealed containers)Refrigerators, freezers, A/C units, other items with freon, and materials generated from businesses will not be accepted.
