Here is a fun writing workshop perfect for lovers of the arts and coffee!
Join us for an artist-led storytelling circle that guides you in the process of writing your own family tale. Participants will be introduced to key concepts and techniques of playwriting and work with a small group to create a story based on family lore. No experience necessary. Writing supplies provided!
The Writing Circle Format:
The 1.5 hour circle will consist of a framing of how playwright’s utilize family lore to build stories and a series of creative and writing prompts: i.e. “imagine a story that might be interesting to tell”, “write freely about a story”, “take the ‘real’ narrative and ask the story ‘what if’ to shape a story or scene in a dramatic way”. Each prompt is followed by guided discussion with the professional teaching artist about the nature and process of storytelling.
Participants will be invited to see the production of Bina's 6 Apples at the Alliance Theatre.
Space is limited; RSVP required
