NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Jan. 31 through Feb. 6. The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt. Incidents A woman received a scam phone call on Feb. 2. The scammer called her and claimed to be her grandson and that he had been hurt. The caller hung up when the woman asked for details. Police told the woman she should block the number from her phone.A driver was warned about speeding in Northport Village after a caller reported a possible speeding incident on Feb. 4.A man on Feb. 5 reported to police that he received an email from his Discover Card account that his Social Security Number was found on a "dark web site" that they monitor daily. The man is monitoring his accounts and does not believe any fraudulent activity has happened. The man filed a police report for informational purposes.A loose dog was running around the street on Bayview Avenue on Feb. 5. Police searched the avenue and Village Park but could not find the dog.Police went to Woodbine Avenue on Feb. 5 to try and settle an argument between a landlord and her tenant. The landlord told police that the tenant has refused to remove miscellaneous items from inside the apartment building hallways and outside the entranceway. The landlord said the tenant does not pay extra rent for the permission to use the space and she wants the items removed immediately. Police suggested the landlord request the tenant remove the items with an official document before removing anything on her own. The landlord also told police the tenant installed a camera system outside the building without her permission. The landlord said she believes the tenant had intentions of installing a camera system but he did not do it after she spoke with him about it. The tenant was not at the apartment, so police could not speak with him.
