A great afternoon to hear this new Detroit author read from her book and hear from those who have read it while enjoying light refreshments.
A Romeo & Juliet type love story of two black teenagers whose complexions cause soul stirring conflicts in the communities which they live. Faith, a dark skin girl born into a middle class light skin family and Kimba, who is biracial and appears white, is growing up with his single black mother in the projects of Detroit. They find peace and love in each other and made plans to be together forever, but one night of unfortunate events pulled them apart. She thinks he's dead, he thinks she abandoned him. Ten years later, they banish their vows to never return to Detroit, and unknowingly return on the same weekend for separate events.
