Description

SALEM, MA — The vulnerable coastline of Essex County will be the subject of a forum to unveil and discuss mapping projections for damage forecast over the next several decades. The study is intended to help identify the risk to communities with mapping for what is expected by 2030, 2050 and 210o. The maps will incorporate projected sea-level rise and will be used for community planning and hazard mitigation. FEMA Region I has shared the results of this study with the community officials within the county and will reveal them to the North Shore communities in a virtual forum next week. The meeting will provide an overview of the findings and time for a discussion. The public must register in advance for the presentation and discussion to be held on Feb. 16 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. (Scott Souza is a Patch field editor covering Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott.
