EAST HARLEM, NY — A man and a woman beat a man until he passed out on an East Harlem street corner — causing him to be hit by a car moments later, according to authorities. The beating happened around 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 1, near the corner of First Avenue and East 116th Street. The victim, a 31-year-old man, got into an argument with the man and woman, who then chased him onto the street and started punching and kicking him, police said. After the man lost consciousness, a car uninvolved in the assault drove up and hit the man as he lay on the pavement, causing "serious head injuries," police said. He was rushed to Harlem Hospital in serious but stable condition. The man and woman then got into a car and fled in an unknown direction, police said. Police released surveillance images of both suspects, described as between the ages of 20 and 30. They asked anyone with information to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). People can also submit tips online or on Twitter, @NYPDTips.
