Join the experts at HudsonAlpha for an immersive dive into bioscience research topics and hands-on learning! Our BioSkills courses will provide students the opportunity to utilize cutting-edge technology and equipment to explore the foundations of lab techniques and experimental design. Designed for 9-12 grade students, these courses will provide an opportunity to learn biotechnology techniques and concepts. Each course is unique and will focus on a specific set of skills and concepts. Small class sizes will allow each student to have an in-depth experience as they use tools, equipment, reagents and materials commonly found in top-tier research labs. Sharpening Your BioSkills Course Students will focus on learning aseptic techniques (processes to prevent contamination), lab safety, and micropipetting. This prerequisite will prepare students to step into the other courses and get right into the experimentation and science because they will have mastered the basic lab techniques to help ensure successful results. Eligibility and Tuition: Eligible to 9th-12th gradersStudents must take either this Sharpening Your Bioskills course or Biotechnology Skills - Level 1 to meet the prerequisite requirements for subsequent courses.*$45 tuition is due in full upon registration.For needed cancellations, a $45 refund, minus fees, will be given until one month before the course.After that point, a $22.50 refund, minus fees, will be given until two weeks prior to the course.After the two-week threshold, no refunds will be given for cancellations.*Students who register and complete this course will receive a one-time discount code for $45 off your next BioSkills course registration fee! Across all of our programs, HudsonAlpha will follow best practices for gathering safely. These practices may change based on recommendations from health officials, but currently include reducing overall capacity, social distancing, masking, and frequent symptom/temperature checks. Prior to registering, please review our Lab Safety Contract, Waiver and Release/Emergency Contact and COVID-19 Certifications and Expectations Forms. These are required to participate and will be included on the registration for signature.
