Trumbull Ends 'Call Ahead' Coronavirus Policy At Town Hall

TRUMBULL, CT — The town is no longer requiring people to call ahead before visiting Trumbull Town Hall, a temporary policy officials implemented when coronavirus cases were spiking and several employees were not in their departments. While the call ahead wording has been removed from the Trumbull website, the town is still requiring masks in town government facilities. "All Town employees and visitors, both fully vaccinated and unvaccinated, MUST wear a mask while indoors at all Town of Trumbull government buildings," officials wrote on the website. "Employees in their private office are not required to wear a mask or face covering while alone in their private office." Like a lot of schools and businesses, Trumbull town government experienced temporary staffing shortages in December and January due to the omicron variant of COVID-19, and as such, the language on the website said the following (the language has been removed): Beginning Monday, January 3rd, 2022 through Friday, January 14th, 2022 people wishing to visit town offices OTHER THAN the Tax Collector, Town Clerk, and/or the Building Department are asked to call first to verify that the person they wish to see is in the office. Town Hall, like so many places, is dealing with Covid-19 cases and exposures and has had to make some adjustments. Please call ahead to verify that the person you wish to see is on the premises. The number of Covid cases has been dropping in recent weeks, and last week, First Selectman Vicki Tesoro said that the call ahead policy was under review, the Connecticut Post reported.
