Do you like to eat? Come learn how to grow your own vegetables, herbs and/or fruit in your own yard and/or containers! Calling everyone who likes to grow their own food or would like to learn how to grow their own vegetables, herbs and/or fruit! Join us for the Be Healthy: Grow Your Own Food four-class series beginning on Monday, July 18th from 10-11:30 am (meeting for four consecutive Mondays) and ending on August 8th . Learn how to grow vegetables, culinary herbs and even fruit crops in containers and in the ground. Participants will also learn how grow to transplants from seed and/or cuttings plus, how to grow nutrient dense food. The topics that will be covered in the four classes include: Propagating Plants from Seeds and Cuttings; Container Gardening; Nurture the Soil; and Strategies for Pest Control. Each ticket includes all the handouts, and some seeds of a few heirloom vegetables, culinary herbs and flowers. It doesn't matter if you have a huge yard or just a balcony, everyone can grow their own nutritious food! The cost of the class is just $45. The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Brevard County is a partnership between UF/IFAS, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and Brevard County government, providing educational programs based on the latest research and technology.
