Here are the top 3 stories in Buffalo today: Several towns across Western New York are considering seceding from Erie County. Representatives from Marilla, Wales, Holland, and Grand Island say they are considering secession due to the county's mask mandate and other pandemic-related public health ordinances. Erie County stands to lose considerable tax revenue if the towns go through with their plan to secede. (WBFO)The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is launching a new initiative to combat drug-related violence and overdoses in Buffalo. "Operation Overdrive" began this month and uses a data-driven approach to identify criminal drug networks and devote resources to dismantle them. The program has been launched in 34 locations across 23 states so far. (WKBW-TV)The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade will return to Buffalo this year after being canceled in 2020 and 2021. The parade will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, and will travel down Delaware Avenue. Patrick D. McGuinness, a trustee of the South Lockport Fire Department and a blood donation recruiter, will be the parade's grand marshal.
