TUCSON, AZ — Though you might not consider yourself a "senior" at age 50, apparently the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department does. But that might not be a bad thing: Those 50 and older can now register for the Department's 36th annual Senior Olympic Festival, held Jan. 6-Feb. 1, 2020. The Senior Olympic Festival will be held at 25 venues in Tucson, and aims to promote and celebrate health, fitness and active lifestyles in those 50 years old and older. Festival events include badminton, racquetball, bowling, volleyball, archery, golf, pickleball, horseshoes, bridge, tennis, a basketball shoot and more. Udall Park Ampitheater at 7200 E. Tanque Verde Road in Tucson is the venue for the opening ceremonies Jan. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. The City of Tucson is expecting more than 2,000 participants in the festival, which is the city's biggest annual organized senior activity. Registration is open now through Jan. 3, 2020. Activities are divided into competition age brackets, and fees vary by event. For more information, visit the festival website or contact Joe Stubbins or Debra Henley at [email protected] or call them at 520-791-4931.
