Man Found Dead In Hamden: Police

HAMDEN, CT — An elderly man was found dead early Monday morning on Welton Street in Hamden, according to police. Police responded to Welton Street around 5 a.m. after the man was found lying on the sidewalk, according to Lt. Anthony Diaz. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Hamden Fire Rescue personnel, Diaz said. The man's body was taken to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. Diaz said the man's identity is not being released, pending notification of his next of kin. A preliminary investigation found that the death "appears to be an isolated incident and there is no concern to the public," Diaz said. The Hamden Police Department's Detective Division is continuing to investigate.
