Fatal Cape May County Fire Under Investigation

LOWER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Authorities are investigating a fatal fire in a North Cape May home that happened Sunday, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Lower Township Police Chief Kevin Lewis said. Lower Township police were called to a fully involved fire at a home on Suzane Road in North Cape May, and after the fire was extinguished, a woman's body was found in a bedroom, authorities said. An autopsy was conducted Sunday on the woman, whom authorities have not identified. Sutherland said the autopsy and the preliminary investigation into the fire "have not revealed anything suspicious in nature at this time." Sutherland urges anyone who may have information about the fire to contact the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office at 609-465-1135, the Lower Township Police Department at 609-886-1619 or report the information anonymously through the Cape May County Sheriff's Tip Line at cmcsheriff.net and click on anonymous tip, or through the Cape May County Crime-Stoppers at 609-889-3597.
