DACULA, GA — A personal-care home in Dacula is faring better than many in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
In numbers released Wednesday by the Georgia Department of Health, Arbor Terrace at Hamilton Mill reports no infections or deaths caused by the coronavirus among its 88 residents. Only one employee was reported to have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
On Wednesday, Gwinnett County tallied 28 deaths caused by COVID-19 in nursing homes or personal-care homes. Among 1,383 residents at 20 Gwinnett facilities, 164 — about 12 percent — have tested positive, while 79 facility employees have tested positive. Hardest hit were PruittHealth-Lilburn, where 46 of 106 residents tested positive and three residents have died; and Life Care Center of Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, where 29 of 75 residents tested positive and seven residents have died.
Statewide, the Georgia Department of Health reports 464 deaths from COVID-19 in the 317 nursing and personal-care homes listed. Overall, 3,152 residents — about 12 percent — have tested positive among 25,245 residents total, while 1,568 residence employees also have tested positive. The report includes COVID-19 activity for all licensed nursing homes, all licensed assisted living communities, and licensed personal care homes of 25 beds or more.
