Here are the top three stories today in Des Moines: When renovations on the Val Air Ballroom are completed, Sam Summers, the new owner, predicts attendees will see "a little bit of everything" in the eventual line-up. There are plans to completely update the venue with new electrical, plumbing, and sprinklers as well as install ADA-appropriate accessibility options such as an elevator. They also plan to add additional bathrooms and HVAC and want to mitigate the noise coming from the venue as performances. (Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier) The Filipino-American Society of Iowa hosted a vaccine clinic on Saturday in Des Moines.The group has hosted several vaccine clinics, with an emphasis on serving Asian and Pacific Islander communities. The Filipino-American Society of Iowa will hold another free vaccine clinic on Feb. 26.
