LAS VEGAS, NV — Star New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was arrested on a felony battery charge after playing in the Pro Bowl on Sunday in Las Vegas. Around 6 p.m. Saturday, police were sent to a hospital where someone reported a battery, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release. The person said they were beaten at a nightclub on South Las Vegas Boulevard, near West Flamingo Road. Investigators determined the person was beaten by a suspect later identified as Kamara, police said. Kamara was taken into custody without incident Sunday afternoon and booked at the Clark County Detention Center on a felony charge of battery resulting in substantial bodily harm. The investigation remains ongoing. Kamara had four catches for 23 yards for the NFC in the Pro Bowl, which was played at Allegiant Stadium, the home field of the Las Vegas Raiders. He was in jail Sunday night with bail set at $5,000. A court hearing was scheduled for Monday afternoon, a jail official told The Associated Press. Court records obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal showed Kamara posted bond after his arrest and was no longer in custody. Kamara, 26, is regarded as one of the league's best running backs. He amassed more than 1,300 yards from scrimmage and nine touchdowns this season before being selected for his fifth Pro Bowl in five seasons as a pro.
