Loaded Gun Recovered After Joliet Police Stop: Cops

JOLIET, IL — Bail has been set at $40,000 for a 29-year-old Kankakee man arrested by Joliet police over the weekend on felony gun charges. Joliet police booked Bruce-Webster O'Neal into custody after a 1:30 a.m. traffic stop in Joliet's Forest Park area near the old Silver Cross Hospital property, Maple Road and Draper Avenue. O'Neal was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a gun, having no Firearm Owner's Identification card and unlawful possession of ammunition. Officers pulled over a car with several people inside after realizing they were not wearing seatbelts, Joliet police announced. "Officers observed open alcohol containers inside of the vehicle," police spokesman Dwayne English stated. After the people were asked to step outside the car, "officers observed a handgun in plain sight on the floorboard where O'Neal had just been seated. Officers recovered the loaded handgun from the vehicle and placed O'Neal into custody without incident," English indicated.
