Orange County Seeks Lake Forest Residents' Feedback On ARPA Funds

LAKE FOREST, CA — Orange County Supervisor wants to hear from Lake Forest residents on how to spend the money received from the American Rescue Plant Act. The County of Orange is seeking feedback now until March 11 on how the money should be spent as part of the county's 2022-2024 budget development process. Lake Forest residents can file their public comments online by visiting the County of Orange's website. The Americans Rescue Plan Act, signed into law by President Joe Biden in 2021, is designed to give $1.9 trillion in financial assistance to states, localities and metropolitan areas that have been impacted by COVID-19. Orange County received about $616.8 million. Legislation on the act requires the funds to be disbursed in two separate installments. The first installment of $308.4 million was received on May 21, 2021, and the second installment is expected to be received no sooner than 12 months from the first payment, according to the county's website.
