The Americans Rescue Plan Act, signed into law by President Joe Biden in 2021, is designed to give $1.9 trillion in financial assistance to states, localities and metropolitan areas that have been impacted by COVID-19. Orange County received about $616.8 million.
Legislation on the act requires the funds to be disbursed in two separate installments.
The first installment of $308.4 million was received on May 21, 2021, and the second installment is expected to be received no sooner than 12 months from the first payment, according to the county's website.
