Around 3 a.m., officers were patrolling in the area of Congress and Whitaker streets when they heard gunfire. They quickly ran towards the area where the shots were heard and located Markieth Wright with a life-threatening gunshot wound at the intersection of Congress and Drayton streets. Wright was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. This investigation is ongoing.
