ROSWELL, GA — The City of Roswell has been recertified as a Green Community at the platinum level—the highest level possible—by the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), according to a news release. The Green Communities Program recognizes local governments that invest in programs and policies that lead to a greener, healthier, and more sustainable region. "The City of Roswell is proud of its ongoing commitment to increase environmental accountability and implement innovative programs that protect the environment, provide economic savings, and enhance quality of life throughout our City and the region," said Deputy City Administrator Michael Fischer, who oversees the City's sustainability efforts in a statement. He said he hopes this "inspires" residents in Roswell to implement sustainable principles into their own daily lives. This is the fourth consecutive Green Community certification that Roswell has achieved, first certifying at the silver level in 2009 and then achieving the gold level in 2013 and 2017, according to the release. Local governments recertify every four years. Learn more at Roswell.gov.
