SOUTHAMPTON, NY — In the days leading up to Valentine's Day, "Operation Love," a snack drive for essential workers, will be kicking off in Southampton. The drive takes place from Feb. 6 to Feb. 13; there will be two collection points. The first is at the Hamptons United Methodist Church, located at 160 Main Street, and the second is at Heart of the Hamptons, located at 168 Hill Street. Denise Smith Meacham, who is organizing the effort said the snacks will be distributed on Valentine's Day to local hospitals, police stations, fire departments, the highway departments, and ambulances barns. Donations sought include individual packages of popcorn, chips, granola and protein bars, dried fruit, mixed nuts, and small water bottles. "Let's show our deep gratitude to those who have offered great care on the pandemic front lines for nearly two years," Smith Meacham said.
