Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix: A man remains hospitalized in extremely critical condition after hiking at the Phoenix Mountain Preserve yesterday, according to the Phoenix Fire Department. Crews responded to the call at Quartz Ridge Trailhead at 32nd Street and Lincoln after a 62-year-old man said he was having trouble breathing. The man reportedly passed out 100 yards from the base of the mountain as first responders were assessing him. (FOX 10 News Phoenix) The Children's Museum of Phoenix is raising literacy rates with its newly funded Raising a Reader program. Children ages 0-5 are provided 60-minute reading lessons and the book they read to take home. The museum serves children ages 0-10 with dynamic floors filled with evidence-based, educational activities, and 17 exhibits. (The Arizona Republic)A Phoenix house fire broke out after a "significant explosion" damaged the home and some nearby homes within the gated community on Saturday. The fire sparked near 36th Street and Lincoln Drive around 4:40 p.m. near Piestewa Peak. No injuries have been reported, and no one resided in the home when the fire broke out.
