WORCESTER, MA — Lake Quinsigamond is off-limits for recreational activity following a sewage outflow in Worcester on Sunday. According to Worcester officials, a pumping station along Lake Avenue flooded on Sunday, disabling the pumps and allowing untreated wastewater to gush into the 772-acre lake. Officials did not say exactly how much sewage entered the lake, but said the disabled pumping station is one of the biggest in Worcester. "The effected pumping station is the largest capacity station in the city typically pumping 3 million gallons of sewage per day," a Sunday bulletin said. The lake is off-limits for recreation until further notice.
