International Student Support, LLC a local care & Educational Consulting company is seeking independent contractors for part time supervision of international students attending local private high schools. Duties include: Remaining on site of designated hotel arranged by ISS, usually within 45 minutes of downtown Portland, there are exceptions Visually checking in on students an average of 3-5x/day, including bedtime/Lights out check in at 10:30pm each evening Cooking and serving three meals daily and delivering to student doors. Breakfast is provided by hotel. All other food and materials provided. Monitoring “Whatsapp” group chat while on duty and handling student questions and communication throughout the day to ensure students are safe, well taken care of, comfortable, and happy. ISS manager will always be in this group chat to help answer any questions. Pick up groceries that are in locations near the hotel. Administer and keep a log of student daily medications as needed, also administer OTC medications such as ibuprofen, advil, cough medicine, etc. NOTE: Some students have tested positive for COVID-19 or are isolating after a close contact, however some students may only be staying in the hotel for a few days during a school closure. For students who are positive, there is very little interaction and no “close contact” exposure as defined by CDC. An N95 Mask will be provided and students must also wear a mask when they answer the door. Most students remain asymptomatic and stay happily occupied being in their hotel room taking online classes, gaming, or watching Netflix.For students who are experiencing slight symptoms: headache, cough, sore throat, or fatigue, the student will message ISS manager with their symptoms who will talk with the school nurse and determine which OTC medicine to administer to the student and at appropriate times. The majority of students who have been in our care have felt well and are following school protocol to isolate off campus. Ideal Candidates: Have a flexible schedule, and able to stay on site for multiple days at at time Must have their own transportation Enjoy children, have a kind heart, and ability to make students feel comfortable in a new environment Easy going attitude and willingness to go with the flow, some days will feel busy, while other days are more relaxed Have a clean record, background checks will be run on all applicants, and must remain drug and alcohol free while on premises with students Typical day: 8:00-8:15am - Get breakfast items from breakfast buffet, make individual plates in room 8:30-8:45am - Deliver breakfast to rooms 11:15am - Lunch prep ( Ex. sandwiches, soup, pasta or re-heating pre made meals) 12:00pm - Deliver lunch to rooms 4:00pm - Deliver snacks and supervise an outdoor group walk around the hotel premises (students must wear masks) 5:15pm - Dinner Prep 6:00-6:30pm - Deliver dinner to rooms 8:45pm - Check in via whatsapp, deliver snacks 10:45pm - Lights out and Good Night check-in, using room keys to visually communicate OTHER NOTES: Violation of student rules must be reported to ISS manager immediately so they can contact student and also discuss with school if necessary A menu is created in advance to assist with meal prep and determine grocery purchases. Oftentimes, we will try to plan for pre-made meals from BJ’s. All menu items are created with simplicity in mind. A 1099 will be provided by ISS at the end of the year.
