TUCSON, AZ — A 64-year-old Tucson woman has succumbed to her injuries after she was struck by an SUV while crossing a busy street, according to Tucson police. The accident occurred on Sept. 29, when the Tucson Police Department was sent to the intersection of South Kino Parkway and East Winsett Street around 6:30 p.m. A woman, since identified as Sharon Ann Ridella, was crossing Kino Parkway when drivers had a green light. She was struck by a white 2017 Chevrolet, said Officer Frank Magos, a Tucson police spokesman. "Witnesses advised that the pedestrian was crossing against a green light and that other vehicles had to maneuver to avoid striking her," Magos said in a news release. The driver immediately stopped after the collision and cooperated with the investigation, Magos said. He was not found to be impaired. Ridella was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and later died on Oct. 6. The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed. Another pedestrian fatality occurred just one day after Ridella was struck, with a 9-year-old boy dying in a hit-and-run while crossing the street near Sarnoff Drive and MacGuire Avenue on Sept. 30.
