DC-based lineup seeking bassist

Description

We are a newly-formed group of experienced musicians in their 20s and 30s and looking to add a versatile member in our general age range to primarily lock down the low-end either on bass guitar or synth. Our music is a broad mix of post-punk, garage rock, jangle, new-wave, and kraut with some soul and thrash influence sprinkled in. We have a pretty massive catalog of original tracks we are working on with ambitions to start gigging as soon as the pandemic is safely in the rear view. Our idea bassist would be someone who is ego-less on their instrument and open to thumping out repeating bass lines and who shares our musical sensibilities. We also want to make sure any addition to this lineup is someone we would want to hang out with — namely LGBTQ-friendly and preferably anti-capitalist in their worldview since that is the subject matter animating a lot of our original material. The lineup currently consists of two guitarists, a drummer, and a versatile fill-in-the gaps bandmate concentrating on vocals and synth flourishes. Everyone involved is strong on lead and supporting vocals, so we would welcome another voice but really want to make sure we find the right fit in the bass area. Some of our primary influences are Neu!, New Order, Prince, King Gizzard, Soft Boys, D’Angelo, Janelle Monae, St Vincent, X, 13th Floor Elevators, Joy Division, Devo, Slayer, and Motown/Stax among many others. Aside from that, we all have day jobs and practice once or twice a week over at our drummer’s practice space, which is in NE DC. We’re all vaxxed, boosted, and not interested in anyone even remotely conservative. We will be playing some covers, but this is definitely not a cover band and we are focused on perfecting existing songs and writing new stuff to be performed live. Hit me up if you’re interested in learning more and I’d be more than happy to send you some recordings of tracks we’re currently working on. You can respond either through Craigslist or you can text me at .
