TUCSON, AZ — First, the Tucson Rodeo was canceled. Now, the Professional Bull Riders has postponed its January event indefinitely, leaving rodeo fans heartbroken. The group announced the decision regarding its "Unleash the Beast" competition on its website Thursday, which it said was "due to the decisions of local authorities in restricting gatherings and business activity." The Tucson event was originally scheduled to take place on Jan. 9 and 10. Another Payson event in January was canceled altogether. "PBR was able to deliver its 2020 season to fans by implementing industry-leading safety protocols and remaining flexible in scheduling based on local conditions, and we will continue to do so in planning and delivering 2021 events," CEO Sean Gleason said in a statement. New dates for Tucson have not yet been announced but will likely be set for later in 2021. No other rodeo cancellations have been announced for its 2021 season at this time.
