JOB SUMMARY: The employee in this position will be assisting the Head Mechanic with issues he may require help with, disassembling, cleaning, repairing, and reassembling Wilden Double Diaphragm pumps. Also, will be responsible for ordering parts - all sizes; as well as keeping the shop and stockroom clean. There will be on-the-job training, but any previous experience related to construction or shipyard work is highly desired. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Must be willing to learn, understand, and promote our ESOP culture. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must be able to cooperate and work well with other employees and shipyard personnel. Must be able to take direction from supervisors or more experienced workers. Must be able to carry out simple to complex instructions in a safe and efficient manner. Must have hands-on experience working with hand tools. Previous experience working in an automotive parts store or similar background is desired, but not required. Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time. Basic ability to help mechanics with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components. Must have a clean Drivers Record (3-5 years). Must be able to obtain a TWIC card. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS. Must be able to lift 75 pounds, crawl, stoop, bend, and work in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift and move heavy objects. Must be able to pick up 55-gallon drums. Must be physically able to perform the requirements of the job. WORKING CONDITIONS. Repetitive, physical work. Regularly exposed to dusty conditions, extreme temperatures, high noise levels, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, ambient weather conditions, hazardous machinery, precarious places, proximity to other employees. To avoid injury, safety clothing is required along with safety devices to protect eyes, head, or hearing. Shift work and overtime are involved most of the time. Travel may be required.
