TEMPE, AZ — A brush fire sparked up near Tempe Marketplace early Monday morning. The fire was blazing as of 5:40 a.m. near McClintock Road and Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe, by the Loop-202 Freeway. Several Tempe Fire Department crews were on hand to put it out. The Arizona Department of Transportation said that the firefighters had "quenched the blaze" around 6 a.m. NOW: BRUSH fire seems to be under control now that firefighters have quenched the blaze.
