On March 5, 1770, a deadly riot occurred in Boston. Hear about some who died, witnessed, and remembered this historic turning point. The Boston Massacre occurred on March 5, 1770. A distinguished panel of scholars will discuss what we can learn about some of the participants, witnesses, and one who memorialized the event. J. L. Bell will discuss Crispus Attucks, a man of mixed race who was killed that day and how his story has been told; Katie Turner Getty will share the eye witness accounts of women and girls who witnessed the riot; and Christian Di Spigna will reveal new discoveries about Dr. Joseph Warren and his pivotal role in the Massacre's aftermath and its enduring legacy. The Henry Knox color guard will welcome guests with a fifer and drummer outside the museum's entrance. Tickets $10 adults; children free. Dedham Historical Society & Museum is one of the oldest historical societies in the country. Collections and archives range from the 1630s to the present and relate to the history of Dedham (est. 1636). DHSM relies on members and private donations to support our educational programs, lectures, exhibitions, research, and outreach.
