SCOTTSDALE — Investigation Discovery's latest episode of "The Killer Beside Me" will explore a 2006 crime spree that ended in the murders of five people in Scottsdale. The show is in its third season and explores workplace relationships that have turned deadly, according to the network's website. Thursday's episode follows the crimes of William Craig Miller, who sought revenge against Steven Duffy and Tammy Lovell for testifying against him in an arson case. According to ABC15, Miller had torched his Scottsdale house in November 2005 to collect insurance money and enlisted Duffy, who worked for him, to help. Lovell convinced Duffy to turn Miller in to the police and Miller was indicted for arson. On February 21, 2006, Miller went to the Mesa home of Duffy and Lovell, who lived with Duffy's brother Shane and Lovell's two children, and shot them all. Three weeks after the murders, Miller staged a robbery at his home to throw police off the scent. Instead, officers found evidence linking him to the five murders. Miller received 16 years in prison on fraud and arson charges, and was sentenced to be executed for the killings. "The Killer Beside Me" airs at 10 p.m. on Investigation Discovery.
