SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A Scottsdale man is in custody and accused of kidnapping a woman near Flagstaff, according to the Coconino County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to a report of a man driving a woman who had been forced into his car just south of Flagstaff on Interstate 17 on Tuesday just before noon. The caller from the Mustang Gas Station along Highway 87 reported that a woman was strapped or tied to the front passenger seat in a white Jeep Wrangler. The 911 caller was able to give the car's information to dispatchers, who determined that the car belonged to Brandon Thomas Stewart, of Scottsdale, the sheriff's office said. The Coconino deputies, members of the Navajo County Sheriff's Office and Department of Public Safety's helicopter crew began searching the area east of Highway 87 and north of Forest Service Road. The Jeep was eventually located later that evening by DPS and the Navajo County deputies. "[Stewart] was taken into custody without incident and the female victim was located uninjured, the news release said. "[Stewart] was transported to the Navajo County Detention Facility and booked on charges of unlawful imprisonment." Other charges are still pending, according to the release. The investigation is still underway so no other details were made available.
