It is a time to reflect on the past and look ahead to the future. SAPL invites the community to take part in celebrating this observance by joining us for a special selection of programming, browsing through staff recommended book lists, and more. African Americans in San Antonio have a zeal for preserving their cultural legacy and heritage but the transformation of certain historic spaces due in part to gentrification leads to the question: is enough being done to preserve African American cultural memory and heritage in this time of change?
