PORT ARANSAS, TX — A 40-year old man fell overboard while on a commercial shrimp boat off the coast of Texas near Port Aransas early Sunday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Michael Ramirez, who was captain of the vessel, was not wearing a life jacket when he fell into the water from the Lady Nora. Others aboard the ship called the Coast Guard and told them he had slipped and fallen off the boat about 7 miles northeast of the Port Aransas jetties.
Ramirez is 6-foot, 180 pounds and was wearing a black jacket and boots.
The Coast Guard deployed helicopters, planes and ships Sunday in a search for Ramirez, and a commercial boat also is assisting in the effort. Authorities urge anyone with information related to the search for Ramirez to call Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi at (361) 939-0450.
