Roesley Park Reopens Following 'Extensive' $500,000 Makeover

PHOENIX, AZ – Roesley Park reopened last week after an "extensive" $500,000 renovation, said Phoenix Parks and Recreation Public Information Officer Gregg Bach. A ribbon-cutting ceremony welcomed the public back into the park, and revealed the venue's facelift. Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego's community relations director Cepand Alizadeh shared a proclamation naming Nov. 14 the city's "Roesley Park Day." Attendees were able to stroll through the 2.6-acre park's improvements, including a resurfaced basketball court, a new playground, a new fitness-station-equipped walking path, and new play and game areas for those embarking in old-fashioned recreational fun such as hopscotch, tetherball, cornhole and ping pong. The park also sports two new ramadas suited up with grills and picnic tables. In early 2020, Roesley Park visitors will see the addition of a new restroom building too. The $500,000 for the renovations came from the Phoenix Parks and Preserve Initiative (PPPI), which was approved by voters. Originally opened in 1960, Roesley Park is located at 4205 S. 15th Ave. in Phoenix.
