PHOENIX — CVS Health announced Friday the addition of a new coronavirus testing site in Glendale to increase community access to health care during the pandemic. Testing will be free and by appointment only. The new testing site is located at 6030 N. 43rd. Ave. To be eligible, patients must meet criteria established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in addition to age guidelines. Results will be provided on the spot. "I am proud to continue to work with CVS Health to increase access to testing in particularly underserved communities in Arizona and my district, which is still experiencing disproportionately high positivity rates," said Rep. Ruben Gallego, who represents Arizona's 7th District in Congress. "This new free, rapid community testing site will help build on the progress we have made to ensure everyone has access to life-saving services that will keep themselves, their families, and their community safe." As of Friday, Arizona reported 1,406 new coronavirus casesand 79 new deaths. The bulk of those came from Maricopa County. CVS also announced its partnership with Valle del Sol, a local nonprofit promoting culturally diverse healthcare, to increase awareness of the testing sites in the Phoenix metro area. CVS currently operates one other rapid testing site in the Valley at the Virginia G. Piper Medical & Dental Clinic for the uninsured in Phoenix, which the company launched in June with St. Vincent de Paul. Increased testing has been a priority for Arizona as it recovers from a surge in coronavirus cases following reopening back in May. Call 602-212-4981 to schedule your appointment in advance.
