TUSCALOOSA, AL β€” Northridge High School secured its second straight girls' 6A indoor track championship on Friday in Birmingham. Coached by Jeff Sparks, the 4x400-meter NHS relay team of Khadira Gipson, Alana Green, Antwuaneka Miles and Leah Dendy finished third. The quartet's time of 4:11.16 was less than a second ahead of fourth-place Chelsea and gave the Lady Jaguars the six points it needed for an overall state title win over Mountain Brook. The win represents the fourth overall state girls' title for Northridge. Other west Alabama indoor track high points from the championships: Paul W. Bryant High's Javion Watkins won the boys' state title for long jump, with a leap of 21-07.50. Hillcrest High School boys' 4x200 relay team β€” consisting of Jimmy Rice-Edison, Michael Harris, Braylon Howard and Jayden Dunson β€” won the 6A event with a time of 1:31.25.Winfield High School boys track won the AHSAA Class 1A-3A indoor meet on Friday. Northridge's Khadira Gipson won the 6A girls' title for long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 5ΒΌ inches. She also finished second overall in the triple jump. Northridge's Leah Dendy was runner-up in the pole vault, while teammate Alana Green placed second in the girls' 60-meter dash, with a time of 7.81Hillcrest High boys saw Jimmy Rice-Edison was second in the 60-meter dash, with a time of 6.97.
